How this is calculated
Listing fee is a flat $0.20 charge, applied per item sold — not just per listing created, so a multi-quantity listing pays this fee again on every unit that sells.
Transaction fee is 6.5% of your item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer (gift-wrap charges are also included by Etsy but aren't modeled here, since few sellers use them).
Payment processing fee is 3% of item price plus shipping, plus a flat $0.25 per order, for US-based sellers.
True margin is item price plus shipping, minus all three fees — before your product cost, packaging, your cost to ship, or Etsy Ads spend.

Scoped to US-based sellers. Not modeled: Etsy's Regulatory Operating Fee (0% for US sellers, nonzero for roughly ten other seller countries), sales tax effects on the payment processing fee, gift-wrap charges, currency conversion fees, and optional costs like Etsy Ads or an Etsy Plus subscription. Treat this as a fee-stack estimate, not a final invoice.

Which Etsy fees does this calculator include?
The $0.20 listing fee (charged per item sold), the 6.5% transaction fee on your item price plus shipping, and the 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee for US sellers.
Does this work for sellers outside the US?
The payment processing rate and Etsy's Regulatory Operating Fee both vary by seller country, so this calculator is scoped to US-based sellers. Non-US sellers should also budget for a Regulatory Operating Fee (0% for the US, nonzero for about ten other countries) that isn't modeled here.
Why doesn't this include sales tax?
Etsy's payment processing fee is technically calculated on the tax-inclusive total when Etsy collects and remits sales tax on your behalf, so your actual processing fee may be a few cents higher than this estimate on taxable orders. Everything else here is unaffected by sales tax.
How often is the fee schedule reviewed?
At least once a year, and sooner if Etsy announces a rate change. The review date is shown next to the methodology section below.
