How this is calculated
Referral fee is TikTok Shop's cut of the customer payment (item price plus any shipping charged to the buyer), set by category. Most categories charge a flat 6%. Jewelry (Diamond, Gold, Jade, Platinum/Carat Gold, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) and Pre-Owned items (bags, watches, footwear, apparel, refurbished electronics, collectible coins/cards/figures/comic books) charge a flat 5%. Collectibles (cultural items, entertainment, sports collectibles, trading cards & accessories) use a tiered rate — 6% on the first $10,000 of a sale, 3% on the portion above $10,000. TikTok Shop's own formula is Referral Fee = rate × (Customer Payment + Platform Discount − Tax); this calculator omits Tax (as TikTok's own formula does) and the Platform Discount term, which only applies when TikTok itself funds a promotion the seller didn't pay for.
True margin is customer payment minus the referral fee — before your product cost, your cost to ship, advertising spend, or any affiliate/creator commission you've set up.

Scope & limitations
Covers the standard, ongoing referral fee on a completed sale only. Not modeled: the time-limited 3% new-seller promotional rate, the Refund Administration Fee (20% of the referral fee, capped at $5/SKU, applies only to refunded orders), Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) pick/pack/ship and storage fees, and affiliate/creator commissions — all of these are either promotional, seller-configured, or independently volatile rather than a fixed published schedule. Any category not itemized in TikTok's own by-category page defaults to the 6% standard rate. Treat this as a fee-stack estimate, not a final invoice.

Does this include the new-seller promotional 3% rate?
No. TikTok Shop offers a temporary 3% referral fee for a seller's first 30 days after their first qualifying sale, but that's a time-limited, account-specific promotion rather than a standing published rate — this calculator models the standard, ongoing fee schedule instead.
Why doesn't this include Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) fees?
TikTok Shop's FBT pick, pack, ship, and storage rate card changed three separate times in the first half of 2026 alone, and the published rate tables are images rather than text — too volatile and hard to verify to meet this site's accuracy bar. FBT is tracked as a future addition once it stabilizes.
What happens to the referral fee if an order is refunded?
TikTok Shop refunds the referral fee back to the seller minus a Refund Administration Fee of 20% of that referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU as of May 15, 2025. This calculator models a completed sale's margin, not a refunded order, so that fee isn't included here.
